The FIBO INNOVATION AWARD 2007
„And the winner is…“ was the motto at FIBO on April 20 when the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD was presented to the winners for the eighth time. Since 2006 the price has been awarded in three categories: In the category "Training Equipment" for innovative solutions in the area of fitness-, rehabilitation and prevention equipment, in the category "Health Promotion" and in the field of "Sports Nutrition".
The winners of the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD 2007:
Training Equipment
In the training equipment segment, the winning entry was the TreadClimber TC 916 manufactured by Nautilus Deutschland GmbH (f.l.: Douglas Strom, Manager - Nautilus Deutschland GmbH and Mathias Schilling, Customer Marketing Manager - Nautilus Deutschland GmbH).
The TreadClimber TC 916:
If you wish to combine a runner’s training with a
walker’s speed, the Nautilus® TreadClimber® TC 916 is the suitable piece of training equipment for
you. In addition to the world’s most popular kind of
motion, walking, its dual motion design also offers
a gradual incline.
The special feature of this apparatus are the two
belts which, while moving separately just like those
of a stepper, will induce forward and backwards feet motion as on a treadmill. This means that, given the same speed, twice the number of calories can be burnt as during walking on a treadmill. In addition, the user can change dynamic settings during training by changing the amplitude of the two belts or increasing walking speed to as much as 6.4 km/h.
Health Promotion
In the health promotion category, the winner was Heinz Kettler GmbH & CO. KG with its new training software Tour Concept 1.0. (f.l.: Fabian Kolonko and Christian Langa, both Produktmanager Sport - Heinz Kettler GmbH & Co. KG).
Tour Concept 1.0
With its new TOUR CONCEPT 1.0 training
software, KETTLER has developed the world’s first GPS-assisted exercise bike. It is now possible to simulate training rides on the basis of data on real topographical features previously recorded during a real bicycle tour: a PDA device (personal
digital ass istant) produces a GPS (global positioning system) recording of the course which is then directly transmitted via the software to the KETTLER Ergometer. As a result, any desired
course can now be repeated indoors in the training
room. The reverse is also possible; with the interactive maps, a training tour can be planned on the PC, prepared in indoor training sessions and repeated outdoors per GPS navigation. With the system, up to 8 course participants can exercise with or against each other at the same time. The performance controls on the exercise bike respond automatically to the topographical data of the real course, giving the exercising person the impression of riding interactively on his outdoor course. All significant training data such as performance in watts, heart rate, course and duration of training are transmitted simultaneously
Sports Nutrition
In the sports nutrition sector, the new nutrient complex VASO NO-X® from LSP Sporternährung.
(Heiko Lackstetter, Manager - LSP Sporternährung)
VASO NO-X
The novel VASO NO-X® nutrient complex aims
bringing a targeted supply of nutrients to the
athlete’s healthy and strong vessels. Its ingredients
include, among others, red wine extracts, green
tea extracts and pomegranate extracts to assist the
natural antioxidat effect.

Another important component of VASO NO-X® is
nitrogen-rich proteinogenic L-Arginin which is
naturally required to optimise the body’s nitrogen
balance. In combination with a body enzyme,
valuable nitrogen monoxide is produced which has
a beneficial effect on the athlete’s vascular system.
Additional valuable nutrients contained in the new
nutrient complex by LSP are folic acid omega-3-
fatty acids. One daily portion provides the athlete
with efficient support for his vascular system.
