Perfect anniversary result: FIBO sets new records

Essen. The fitness and wellness industry continues on its growth course. This was underlined by this year’s FIBO, which once again attracted a noticeably larger number of exhibitors and visitors and closed with new records on Sunday. With a total of 53,200 visitors (+5.3% compared to the previous year) and 560 exhibitors (+8.3%), Reed Exhibitions Germany registered a record participation in FIBO’s anniversary year. Compared to the figures of five years ago, this represents a growth of 60 percent in the number of exhibiting companies and an increase of more than 20 percent in visitor numbers.

Essen. Bereits seit 1985 trifft sich die internationale Fitnessbranche auf der FIBO, um Fach- und Privatbesuchern ihre neuesten Entwicklungen zu präsentieren. Auch in ihrem Jubiläumsjahr zeigt die Internationale Leitmesse für Fitness, Wellness und Gesundheit wie die Trainingsgeräte und Studios der Zukunft aussehen. Die besten Neuentwicklungen werden dabei mit dem FIBO INNOVATION AWARD geehrt, der auch in diesem Jahr auf der FIBO vergeben wurde. Vier Sieger gab es am zweiten Messetag zu verkünden, drei in den Kategorien Trainingsgeräte, Gesundheitsförderung und Konzepte sowie den Sonderpreis Design. Vergeben wurden die Awards von einer unabhängigen Fach-Jury unter der Leitung der TÜV Rheinland Gruppe und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Zeitschrift FIT FOR FUN. |

Düsseldorf/ Essen. In 25 Jahren hat die FIBO einiges erlebt: Sport-Legenden, Athleten der Extraklasse und sogar Eis-Prinzessinnen, die sich ins Gästebuch eintrugen. Formel-1-Pilot Michael Schumacher zählte dazu, der damalige Boxweltmeister „Sir“ Henry Maske, Eisschnelllauf-Königin Anni Friesinger, Weitsprung-Olympiasiegerin Heike Drechsler, Schwimmer Michael „Albatros“ Groß und 1993 unvergessen Arnold Schwarzenegger. Auch 2010 tummelt sich wieder einiges an Prominenz auf der Leitmesse für Fitness, Wellness und Gesundheit.

Nominees Announced for FIBO INNOVATION AWARDs

Düsseldorf/ Essen. At FIBO, we have seen many a star born, and countless innovations and premieres celebrated: Products such as the “Power Plate” (2002), “TreadClimber” (2006) and “Cardio Wave” (2007) went on to take the world of fitness studios and gyms by storm after winning this award. The 25th edition of FIBO will see the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD awarded for the eleventh time. The award has long since become a seal of quality in the industry. And that is not only due to the fact that the award is presented on the centre stage of FIBO; at the meeting place of the entire fitness community, where industry, trade and media representatives, as well as fitness studio owners, physiotherapists and the end consumers all come together. The award is presented by an independent jury of experts under the direction of the TÜV Rheinland Group and in cooperation with FIT FOR FUN magazine. The jury includes journalists, sports scientists and sports medicine specialists.

Deutschland rudert für Unicef
Auftakt mit 24 Stunden-Weltrekordversuch auf der FIBO in Essen

Mit einem Weltrekordversuch beginnt die diesjährige Charity-Aktion „Deutschland rudert“, die 2010 unter dem Motto „Deutschland rudert für Unicef“ das Kinderhilfswerk der Vereinten Nationen unterstützt. Ein 24 Stunden-(Tandem-)Weltrekordversuch am Ruderergometer soll zahlreiche Kilometer für die gute Sache bringen. Los geht’s am 22. April 2010 auf der FIBO in Essen.

International fitness industry meets at largest FIBO of all times

More exhibitors, more surface area and even more service: right on time for its 25th anniversary, the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness and Health is presenting itself in absolute top form. From Europe, the USA, Asia and even Australia – companies from all over the world showcase their new products at FIBO in Essen from 22 to 25 April. And once again the trade show is cracking a former record: for the first time, FIBO organiser Reed Exhibitions Deutschland expects more than 530 exhibitors from 38 countries. A tremendous achievement, according to Hans Muench, Director for Europe of the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA): “Due to the economic crisis, the fitness industry’s European trade fairs are currently going through quite a difficult period, including, in some cases, severe losses in exhibitor and trade visitor numbers. Düsseldorf/ Essen. Ärzte, Physiotherapeuten, Reha-Kliniken, Versicherungsgesellschaften und viele mehr: Für die FIBO sind die Akteure des Gesundheitsmarktes eine wichtige Zielgruppe geworden. Seit Jahren schon zieht die Messe verstärkt Aussteller und Besucher aus diesem Bereich an. Mit dem neuen Konzept FIBOmed präsentiert sich die FIBO einmal mehr als Schnittstelle zwischen Fitnessbranche und Gesundheitsmarkt. Dass das Thema Prävention eine große Rolle spielt, merken vor allem die Physiotherapeuten, die dies als weiteres Standbein für sich entdecken. Denn zunehmend mehr Bundesbürger tun auch privat etwas für ihre Gesundheit und greifen dafür verstärkt in die eigene Tasche.

Essen. Hale and hearty instead of ailing, resistant to crisis rather than battered by the economic situation: with record sales, new all-time highs and an unbroken boom in the fitness and health sector, FIBO 2009 presented itself at its best. A nine percent increase in exhibitor numbers, a growth of three percent in visitor numbers and a remarkably high willingness to invest characterised the course of the leading international trade show for fitness, well¬ness and health. Altogether the organisers, Reed Exhibitions Deutsch¬land GmbH, registered a new exhibitor record with 517 exhibitors (+ 9,1% compared to the previous year) and good growth rates in visitor numbers with 48,800 visitors (+ 3,2%). |
